Digital Tool 1: Blogs

In the age of technology it is necessary for a major shift would be incorporated into schooling providing many skills and benefits to the students. There are many technology bases and devices which now enable schools and classrooms to interact in such a way. A blog is one avenue available to classrooms which promotes the use of web based forums and creates a place for students to engage in content and express their knowledge and feelings on certain topics. Incorporating online blogs into lesson plans gives students the opportunity to create a piece of work which they can share with the online web based community and can be followed by their peers.

A blog can help students to maintain focus on the task at hand and also develop an interest in their work as it is more relative to their age group and identifies with adolescent social forums and network trends. With a focused class students are more inclined to maintain concentration, meaning less behaviour management which needs to be put in place by the Learning Manager. With the knowledge to be able to create a professional blog ,students adopt skills with technology and the ability to create web databases and online forums which are now very beneficial assets to hold when entering the professional workforce.

It is inevitable that students will have to work in collaboration with a vast amount of ever evolving and adapting technology. This is the reason why 8it is imperative to begin the integration of technology as soon as possible and the creation of a blog is a valuable stepping stone to bridge this gap.
